Terms & Conditions

Students going into Year 7

  • All students in Year 7 need to buy the same Maths and Science books.
  • Please keep the receipt as it is required to access the online version of the Maths textbook.
  • The Science book will be used throughout Years 7-9.
  • There is no Spanish textbook for Year 7.
  • Students taking Chinese need to buy the correct level of textbook (and workbook if required) depending on which phase they are in.
  • Students taking Chinese Language and Literature do not need to buy a textbook.
  • Parents of students currently in Year 6 will receive a separate communication stating which Chinese textbook should be purchased for each student.

 

Students going into Year 8

  • All students in each year level need to buy the same Maths and Science books.

  • The Science book is used throughout Years 7-9.  If you bought the Science textbook last year for Year 7, you do not need to buy it again.  New students will need to buy the Science textbook.

  • Students in Year 10 all buy the same Maths book.
  • There is no Spanish textbook for Year 10.
  • Student taking Chinese need to buy the correct level of textbook (and workbook if required) depending on which phase they are in.
  • Students taking Chinese Language and Literature do not need to buy a textbook.
  • Parents of students currently in Year 9 will receive a separate communication from their child’s current Chinese teacher, stating which Chinese textbook should be purchased.

 

Students going into Year 11

  • Year 11 students DO NOT need to purchase science textbooks if they already have them from Year 10.  New students will need to buy all three Science books (Biology, Chemistry and Physics).
  • Students taking Standard Maths will use the same textbook as in Year 10, so no further purchase is necessary.
  • Students taking Extended Maths need to purchase the new textbook indicated.
  • Parents of students currently in Year 10 will receive a separate communication from their child’s current Maths teacher, stating which Maths textbook should be purchased, if any.
  • New students will need to buy the correct level of Maths textbook.
  • There is no Spanish textbook for Year 11.
  • Student taking Chinese need to buy the correct level of textbook (and workbook if required) depending on which phase they are in.
  • Students taking Chinese Language and Literature do not need to buy a textbook.
  • Parents of students currently in Year 10 will receive a separate communication from their child’s current Chinese teacher, stating which Chinese textbook should be purchased.

 

Students going into Year 12

  • Students need to buy all the books for the subjects and levels (Higher or Standard) that they have chosen to study. All students and parents are aware of what option choices have been made.

  • For English, students need to buy the correct books, depending on which class they are in and so which teacher they have.
  • Parents of students currently in Year 11 will receive a separate communication from the English department, stating which class they will be in and so which books should be purchased.
  • Textbooks for Spanish B and Spanish Ab Initio are not yet available.  When they become available, purchase will be organised through the Languages department.

 

Students going into Year 13

  • Books used in Year 12 will continue to be used in Year 13.
  • HL Maths students need to buy the additional textbook indicated.
  • English students need to buy the books indicated, depending on which class they are in.

New students starting in August 2018

  • It may not be possible to place new students in the correct level for Chinese and/or Maths until they arrive in the school.
  • New Year 12 students may not have finalised subject choices, and may not know which English class they will be in.
  • If unsure what books to buy, it is better to wait until August before ordering.  There may be some delay in the arrival of books, but it is better to wait and ensure that you buy the correct books.
  • Books can be ordered through the online system, but will need to delivered by post for the additional fee of $95.

 

Changing books

Year 12 students may change their mind as to what subjects and/or levels they wish to study, even after several weeks of school. In Years 7-11, students may change their language level and therefore textbook in the first few weeks of the year. Year 12 and Language B textbooks can therefore be returned to A & P for a refund, as long as they are in as-new condition, for example they have not been written on. New textbooks can then be ordered. The deadline for returning books is Friday 28 September 2018.

 

Book distribution

A & P will run a distribution point at Discovery College in the foyer of the theatre on the following dates:

 

  • Wednesday 8 – Friday 10 August from 10.00am to 4.30pm
  • Saturday 11 August from 10.00am to 1.00pm
  • Monday 13 August from 10.00am to 4.30pm
  • Wednesday 15 August from 10.00am to 4.30pm

 

Please remember to bring your book order confirmation letter and cash (if you have not paid by credit card by the time of ordering).  Please note that if you pay by cash, there will likely be a much longer waiting time when collecting books.

After Wednesday 15 August, books will need to be delivered to the home address for the additional fee of $95.
